The Master of Science in Agribusiness Management of Machakos University is designed to equip students with essential skills, knowledge
and competencies necessary to manage an efficient, competitive agribusiness industry and address emerging trends and issues in the global agriculture and food system.
Learners in the programme gain analytical, management and leadership skills required along the agricultural value chain continuum comprising input supply, agricultural production, collection and bulking; agro-processing and value addition, distribution system, consumption, agribusiness policy and modern food systems.
Graduates of the programme will play a key role in analyzing, designing and managing agribusiness development in agricultural sector in East Africa, Africa and globally.
The Master of Science in Agribusiness Management of Machakos University is unique in a number of ways that make it relevant to the needs of a modern agricultural sector. As a student:
i. You will be exposed to sustainable agri-food production and consumption systems that take into account environmental issues and climate change
ii. You gain skill on innovative ways to foster entrepreneurship and enterprise development in agribusiness
iii. You will be equipped with modern tools of leadership to effectively transform agribusiness organizations and foster partnerships with stakeholders in agricultural value chains
iv. You learn management and impact evaluation of the ever-increasing projects in agricultural development;
v. You choose from two specializations that emphasize on agricultural value chains and strategic management and leadership in agribusiness and build expertise in selected area.
The graduate of the MSc degree in Agribusiness Management will find employment with various institutions in Kenya, Africa and around the globe. Examples include ministries and government agencies in areas of agricultural policy and foods security, agricultural financial institutions, agricultural organizations and companies, research organizations, universities, consultancies and advisory services and non-governmental organizations.
Graduates of MSc (Agribusiness Management) will also be able to establish their own agribusinesses and create employment.
